Dear all,
Closely related to our Tech4CitSci proposal, there is a call currently in draft status with a deadline in March 2026: HORIZON-WIDERA-2026-07-ERA-06: Pillar III: European Citizens' Hackathon Championship (CSA, 3M€).
There will be only one proposal selected. Is anyone interested in this topic? It is motivating, although it will have a heavy management component regarding a project that has the following scope:
* Project Vision & Key Objectives: The goal is to organize the "European Citizens’ Hackathon Championship" to accelerate the uptake of research results through citizen engagement. * Duration & Structure: A 3-year annual competition cycle (2027-2029) within a project duration of up to 4 years. * The "Championship" Format: * Phase 1 (Local): Annual physical hackathons in at least 14 different locations across Europe. * Phase 2 (European Final): Winning teams from the local phase compete for the European title. * Total Volume: We would be coordinating a minimum of 45 events (42 local + 3 European finals) throughout the project. * Target Participants: Transdisciplinary teams combining researchers and citizens to co-create solutions using existing R&I knowledge. * Beyond the Event: The project requires a strong support mechanism (mentoring, business advice) to help winners enter the market, managing a prize pool of €60,000/year.
This is a high-impact CSA that aligns well with our expertise, but it requires robust logistic capacity to coordinate the multi-site events.
Please, let me know your thoughts.
Best regards, Fran
